uShaka Marine World at a glance

uShaka Marine World is a marine park at the south end of the Golden Mile. It sells several separate products: Sea World, the Wet'n'Wild water park, a Shipwreck Aquarium ticket and the Dangerous Creatures exhibit. A combination ticket links Sea World with Wet'n'Wild. The Village Walk, the open area between the attractions, is listed as free.

The park is run by a private operator. This page is an independent guide and has no link to the park or its operator. Prices and times below come from the operator's published rates and times page and apply to 2026. They can change, so confirm them at the ticket office.

Closed days and peak season

The water park is the product that catches visitors out. In the off-peak season Wet'n'Wild opens Wednesday to Sunday only, and it is closed on Monday and Tuesday. If your plan is a wet day, check the weekday first.

Peak season means public holidays and the KwaZulu-Natal government school holidays. Then the park operates Monday to Sunday. Check the school holiday dates for the year you travel.

Tickets for the Shipwreck Aquarium alone change with the season too. Off-peak they are sold from 09:00 to 17:00. In peak season the sale starts only at 15:30. If you want the aquarium and the water park on the same day, the combination ticket is the simpler route.

House rules and practical tips

What to know before you reach the gate.

No food from home

Picnic baskets, braais and cooler boxes are not allowed. Plan to eat at the park or before you arrive.

Pets

Pets are not allowed, except assistance animals.

Buying tickets

The rates page lists the ticket office as the place of sale. Check before you travel whether online tickets exist and whether they cost extra.

How long to stay

Allow a half day for Sea World and the aquarium products. Add the water park only if you can reach it on an open day. Ask at the entrance for show and feeding times when you arrive.

Getting there

The park lies on the beachfront, so a pre-booked taxi or a ride from your hotel is the simplest option. The German Foreign Office recommends reliable pre-booked taxi companies and advises against hailing cars in the street. Read our safety guide.

The beach next to the park

The uShaka beach and the pier with its arches are a short walk from the park. Swim only between the red and yellow flags and follow the lifeguards. Shark nets are not a closed barrier, and bathing can be banned on a given day because of surf, currents or a shark sighting. Whether it is open on your day is for the lifeguards to say. More on our beaches page.
